Senior Accountant (Remote – LATAM)

About the Role

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and strengthening accounting operations across multiple portfolio companies.

This position works closely with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment, leading core accounting processes, supporting financial reporting, and helping improve internal controls. The role also includes mentoring junior accounting staff and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Lead and execute month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Collaborate with portfolio companies by supporting their accounting teams or overseeing centralized reporting processes.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Perform periodic reviews and audits to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls and improve operational efficiency.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Oversee and support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes when needed.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and customer account records.

Operational Accounting & Documentation

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial documentation and digital filing systems.
  • Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and properly documented.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve financial inquiries and support operational initiatives.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to leadership for strategic planning and decision-making.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.
  • Review work completed by junior team members and provide constructive feedback to ensure accuracy and professional development.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred

  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior accountants.
